Illinois Tolls suck. (but LeMons races do not!)

What. the. fuck.

So early tomorrow morning I’m driving down from mid WI to Joliet, IL for the LeMons race. My car will do approximately 500 miles to a full tank of gas, highway, (Premium, so about $55 or so).
Taking the fastest route will be about 450 miles.

Illinois toll roads will cost me $14.60 EACH WAY getting there and back.

If I decide to avoid tolls, it’s 503 miles round trip and another hour total. (1/2 hour each way)
is it worth it, considering I’ll potentially have to fill up the car again before I get home?

Well, I mean its not like you won’t be filling the tank when you get back anyway, right? I usually fill up when I get where I’m going on a long trip...for some reason, two $30 dollar fill ups will feel better to me than a single $60 one.

I like to try to see how far I can get on a tank of fuel in this car, considering it supposedly gets 26 highway, but I’ve done better. Plus, I live literally 2 houses down from the gas station.

Is that cash cost? This is why I still have my iPass from when I lived in Chicago, for the like 5 trips if that I make back down there a year... You pay half price on the tolls when you use it.

I highly recommend everyone to get one.

I used to have an EZ-Pass, so yeah, that’s cash cost. I don’t have the EZ-pass anymore.

I’m really regretting moving back here. You know how many Toll Roads they have in Iowa? NONE! And the roads are maintained fairly well too.

Hopefully I’ll be a Wisconsonite(?) within the next few weeks..

Wish I could spectate at Joliet but I have to work Sat and Sun.. There’s a killer Burrito Truck at Cass St and Rt6 in downtown Joliet if you’re feeling adventurous.

Coming out of the NE, $15 in tolls is nothing. I’ll be there tomorrow to watch for a little prob. I have a black FoST with Jersey plates IRL if anyone sees me.

The non-toll route will probably take a good bit longer, so the question is what’s your time worth to you? Personally, I usually just suck it up and pay the tolls.

Are you participating in or spectating the Lemons race?

You should stop at a jewel osco or an oasis. They are basically free 25 dollars but they come loaded with that much toll fare. Even if you don't use it often. This trip alone would make it worth it

Yup. Pick it up, register it and your vehicle online. It’s pretty damn easy.

In Indonesia you can’t go over 100 miles without toll roads. Especially with so many bikers and scooters and mopeds around here. Go with the toll.

I tend to avoid toll roads when possible. Sometimes it’s not possible to get around it, but it is what it is.

I don’t really budget my gas that much (though with the SL I should, thing drinks like a fish), but just be glad you get that kind of range. I’d be stopping for gas 2-4 times for the same trip in the SL, could be the same for the Magnum if I get into it a lot.

Get an iPass, and register your plates online. Fun fact, you don't need to carry your iPass on you, it'll read your plates and charge you that way. Now you never need to carry that ugly white box.
